The First Adventure of 2010

The Galloping Grandma is off again! This time I am flying out to Tenerife where I join the Volunteer Crew of the Stavros S Niarchos as Assistant Cook. We then sail from Tenerife to Madeira, no doubt calling in several places en-route. We anticipate getting to Madeira on 28th January and I am then being joined by my friend Margaret to spend the next 6 days walking on, the extremely hilly, or should I say mountainous, Madeira Island.

Day 2 - morning

This is the first proper day 4 the voyage crew who arrived after lunch yesterday. Today we will set sail and follow the wind to Palma. Have to watch this predictive text as it dust decided I was following the wine to Palma! Might be good idea. Captain is driving me mad. He thinks he can do everything, including all jobs volunteers here to do. I told him yesterday that it was a waste of time and money me coming if he was going to do all the washing up! He totally ignored me so I've decided to let him and I will have an easy trip! 6.30am now and still dark. Late breakfast today - one sitting at 8am. More later . .
